Weekend Movies 01/18/08

FRESH: 76 76% Cloverfield - HYPE HYPE HYPE. Could this movie have more hype around it? Basically it's the Blair Witch Project meets Godzilla. Surely to cause motion sickness to a majority of it's audience. Still, I want to see it just as much as the next fanboy.

ROTTEN: 39 39% 27 Dresses  - The first chick flick that comes out this week is 27 Dresses, a romantic comedy about never getting married. Sounds fantastic.

ROTTEN: 19 19% Mad Money - The second chick flick that opens this week is Mad Money. This one stars Queen Latifah. Sounds fantstic.

If you ask me....I think everyone should just go see:
90%
 - it opens in wide release this weekend, and has been nominated for pretty much every award in the book. Any film that gets compared to Citizen Kane should be taken seriously. Not to mention Mr. Day-Lewis in his best role yet.

cant wait to see mad money. Queen Latifah is truly "fantstic".

everything ive heard from people who have seen cloverfield has been pretty positive. i think they were all more excited by the star trek teaser though. looks fun. i feel like ive bene waiting a year for there will be blood. really hope to get out to see that, but since its going to snow here this weekend the movies probably wont be open.

Wait, There Will Be Blood goes wide this weekend?  My city still isn't showing it.  I cannont wait to see it.  But I did Cloverfield this weekend, and I enjoyed it.  Its not for everyone, some will walk out of the theater disliking it for the "shaky cam", but I enjoyed it for what it is.

There Will Be Blood was amazing.  So good, that I would see it again in a heartbeat (especially since we were in the 2nd row-get there early people). Greenwood's score adds so much to the film. Loved the eerie sounds that make you squirm...kindof the same effect the music had in the Shining. Plus beautiful cinematography, amazing acting, and gorgeous imagery. Great, great movie.
