Darth Vader and Yoda announced for Soul Caliber IV

Not sure how I feel about Star Wars characters being entered into a medieval fighting tournament. Last I checked my Star Wars geek book, I believe LightSabers can cut through steel. That doesn't give the other fighters much of a chance now does it? Also notable: the PS3 version will have Vader, while the 360 version will have Yoda. Adding another layer of fuel to the console war fire. At first I thought Vader would be the "cooler" character, but if you can flip around like a bunny on crack with Yoda count me in.

Blu-Ray pretty much wins the next format war.

Blu-Ray scored big this week with the announcement of Warner as well as a few other markets going to Blu Ray exclusive. What makes things worse, previous HD-DVD only studios will not be renewing their contract. This is very good news for Sony, who looks to gain a lot more PS3 sales due to this. Even Microsoft mentioned this week that they would consider a add-on Blu-Ray player to their 360 if the consumer demand was strong enough.

Wii-Fit sells a million in a month.

It's pretty amazing that a non-game like Wii-Fit can sell a million copies within one month in Japan, and the best Nintendo game in a decade (Super Mario Galaxy) has only reached 800k in almost 3 months. It's just further proof of the decline of "core" gamers in Japan. It will be interesting to see if the Wii-Fit craze is as popular in the US when it releases in March this year.

Wow, thats purely sad that Wii Fit has already sold more copies that Mario Galaxy.  Mario Galaxy is not only the best game of '07, but its the best game to come out in a while.  I seriously havn't had that much fun playing a video game since Ocarina of Time.  It actually blows my mind that there are people out there who own a Wii and don't own Mario Galaxy.

don't feel too bad for Mario, it sold almost 2.5 million in the US alone since launch. America still loves Mario. The Japanese opinion on gaming is changing. Hardcore titles are down all over in Japan. It's looks like Nintendo jumped ship at the right time by releasing a more casual friendly system. They take a huge bet and it's paid off in spades. Now if they could only get their inventory problems under control.
