OUCH!!, Grindhouse is officially a box office bomb. With films like Wild Hogs beating it in it's 7th week of release!! This is very bad news for Tarantino fans and fans of indie cinema in general. I guess kids these days could give a shit about the pulp fiction director. They would rather see a Hitchcock rip-off with a direct-to-video title. Yes, Disturbia (worst movie title of the year?), did very well this weekend. Which is very good news for Shia LaBoeuf (call him Beowolf for short) who not only hosted SNL this weekend, but is starring in the upcoming Transformers, and was just annouced to star in Indy 4. Where the hell did this guy come from?

personally, i think it was just a lot of bad things, timing, marketing, etc, not necessarily a reflection of the market.  although i never expected this thing to pull 300 type numbers, i expected some solid performance. i wonder how a fall release would have been with an easier to digust set of tv trailers. i think people are interested. i heard a lot of talk around here about it, but i guess no one actually went to see it. i havent, yet. just bad timing for me to get out to the theater.
